Kumusta!

Barkada Coffee is my love letter to the Philippines.

Hi! I’m Kristal, a second-generation Filipino American and neurodivergent entrepreneur in Portland, sharing the rich, underrepresented world of Philippine-grown coffee.

After a grounding trip back to my family’s homeland in Mindanao, I set out to uplift all four coffee species that thrive across the islands and bring their stories to the Pacific Northwest.

Today, Barkada offers premium roasted Philippine beans, coffee catering for events and workplaces, and hands-on tasting workshops that spark curiosity and connection. Barkada means your closest friends or chosen family, and that warm spirit guides everything we do.

If you’re here to explore bold flavors, learn something new, or support a proudly Filipino coffee company, I’m really glad you found us.

glad you’re here!

Barkada.

What it means to me?

Barkada (bar-kah-da) is the Filipino word for your closest crew, the people you can be yourself with, and the ones who just get you.

That sense of connection is how we think about coffee: not just a drink, but a moment of belonging.

In a culture of instant everything, we’re here to make room for something real. Coffee is how we slow down together, and every cup is an invitation to reconnect!
